What’s going on around North Idaho
Not everything here is real estate. New restaurants, ribbon cuttings, community events, and the occasional Gonzaga game. It is what makes this a great place to live and do business.

Coeur d’Alene is 10 and 0 after a 23 to 14 win over Boise in the state 6A quarterfinals at Viking Field. The defense forced four turnovers, and senior Davis Whittaker had three of them himself with three interceptions. Highland is next on Friday night. Go Vikings.

The Vikings beat Post Falls at Trojan Stadium to wrap up another league title and finished the regular season unbeaten. Coach Shawn Amos has had this program in the state playoffs 17 times in the last 18 seasons. That kind of consistency is hard to build.

Bob Kirkpatrick’s Sunday business column in the Press is one of my favorite reads. This week: Ross Dress for Less is going into the old Rite Aid at Ironwood Square, Chipotle is building on West Neider, Super 1 Foods is building at Highway 41 and Prairie, and a Circle K is coming to Highway 41 and Poleline. Every one of those started as a lease or a land deal.

Immersive Studio CDA at 216 E. Coeur d’Alene Ave. projects floor plans at full scale so you can walk the space before construction starts. I can think of a few tenant improvement jobs that would have saved real money on change orders. Just a thought.
